Find GCDC Release Records

To find someone released from Glynn County Detention Center, begin with the county's current custody report and then follow the record created by the release or transfer. A person who leaves the jail usually disappears from the public population report. Sheriff booking records, court dispositions, and custody-change notifications can then confirm what happened. A transfer to Georgia corrections, a federal authority, another county, or immigration custody is not the same as return to the community. Glynn County release records must therefore be read by custody system, release type, and destination rather than by roster absence alone.

GCDC Release Destinations

Glynn County Detention Center, or GCDC, is the primary county jail operated by the Glynn County Sheriff's Office. A person can leave GCDC for several distinct destinations. Bond, own-recognizance release, dismissal, time served, or a court order may return the person to the community. A sentence or hold may instead cause transfer to the Georgia Department of Corrections, another county, the U.S. Marshals Service, or immigration authorities.

The destination controls the next search. A community release is best confirmed by the sheriff's booking or release record and the related court file. A state transfer moves the search to Georgia Department of Corrections, or GDC, tools. Federal and immigration transfers require their own agency locators. A person can be released from Glynn County custody while remaining confined elsewhere.

Absence from the GCDC population report does not prove community release. Confirm the release type and destination with the sheriff or receiving agency.

Confirm Glynn Detention Center Releases

The official Detention Center page links to the Population With All Charges Report. The county describes it as a daily alphabetical report for people housed at GCDC. It includes name, age, race and gender, booking date, days jailed, charge degree or status, and active and inactive charges. It is a current-custody source, not a recent-release archive.

  1. Open the latest population report and note its “Current as of” timestamp.
  2. Search the full name and read all active and inactive charge lines.
  3. If the name is absent, check Georgia VINELink for a custody change or existing notification.
  4. Review the proper Glynn court file for bond, dismissal, sentence, probation, or transfer language.
  5. Request the sheriff record for the exact release date, time, release type, and destination.
  6. If a transfer appears, continue with the receiving agency's locator.

A charge line marked “Court Release,” “Own Recognizance,” “Time Served,” or “Dismissed” is a clue, not always the status of the whole person. Another charge or agency hold may remain active. The Glynn County released inmate search combines the local and outside-agency paths when the destination is not yet known.

GCDC Release Records Contact

Use the county Detention Center contact for present custody and local release questions. The Sheriff's Office main line can route broader records matters. Written requests should identify one booking and list the specific fields needed.

Submit a county booking or release request through the sheriff open-records portal. Include the full name, date of birth if known, booking date, booking number, and court case number. Ask for release date and time, release type, bond status, and transfer destination. Add a booking-photo request only if that image is also needed.

Georgia's Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. Section 50-18-70 and following sections, calls for an initial response within three business days. The response may provide the record, give a production schedule or cost estimate, or cite a lawful exemption. The sheriff fee schedule lists ordinary copies at $0.50 per page and a record check at $15, but requesters should confirm current charges before ordering.

GCDC Custody and Releases

GCDC is a county jail, not a Georgia state prison. It houses people at different stages, including pretrial detainees, people serving local sentences, and people held for other authorities. That mix makes the word “release” easy to misread. Leaving after bond differs from transfer after a prison sentence, and both differ from removal under an outside hold.

The daily report is useful because it shows booking date, days jailed, and charge-level status. Yet it includes all charges, active and inactive. An inactive count can show a release-like disposition while an active count keeps the person housed. Read the entire entry and then confirm the whole-booking status.

Bond release
Physical jail custody ends while the criminal case and appearance duties continue.
Time served
A court credits or completes a custody term, subject to any other holds.
Transfer
Custody moves to another authority rather than ending.
Discharge
The responsible agency records completion of a sentence or supervision obligation.

GCDC Court Release Records

Court records often explain why a detainee left GCDC after the person drops from the population report. Glynn Superior Court processes felony criminal cases. Glynn State Court handles misdemeanors and traffic or citation matters. The Georgia Courts eAccess page supplies a statewide provider route, while the State Court violations search supports name and citation searches.

A docket may show bond, own-recognizance release, dismissal, time-served sentence, probation, revocation, warrant activity, or commitment to prison. These entries explain legal status, but they may not give the exact time the jail completed processing. Pair the court order with the sheriff release record for a precise custody timeline.

Keep the case and booking numbers together. They connect court action to the correct jail stay and reduce confusion between people who share a name.

GCDC VINELink Release Alerts

Glynn County places VINELink directly on the Detention Center page under “Stay Informed on Custody.” The county describes the service as free, secure, and confidential. A person who registers while someone is still held can receive notice of a custody-status change through available contact methods.

VINELink is a notification channel, not the certified release record. A notice can signal release or transfer, while the sheriff record and court file establish the official reason and destination. If no result appears, check spelling, agency participation, and custody type. Federal, immigration, and some outside-agency records require separate systems.

Register before the expected change when possible. Save the registration confirmation and any phone PIN. After an alert, compare the time with the GCDC report timestamp and request the sheriff's dated release or transfer entry.

GCDC Address Record Difference

Two official sources publish different Glynn jail addresses. The current county Detention Center page lists 100 Sulphur Springs Road. GDC's directory lists “Glynn County Jail” at 1812 Newcastle Street. This difference is a documented local issue, not a reason to merge the two entries without explanation.

Use the county page as the primary record for current detention operations, population-report access, and GCDC contact. Treat the GDC location page as a state directory cross-reference. Call before visiting, delivering property, or mailing a request if paperwork shows a different address.

The address difference does not establish two current facilities or prove where a person was released. Individual custody still requires the booking, release, or transfer record.

GCDC Federal ICE Transfers

The federal and immigration path is locally documented. GCDC's population report includes “INMATE HELD FOR FEDERAL AUTHORITIES.” The Sheriff's foreign-national statistical report for the first quarter of 2026 counted 1,061 total people booked, 98 foreign nationals booked, 98 Law Enforcement Support Center inquiries, 86 answered ICE inquiries, and 60 ICE holds. These aggregate figures show that outside-agency custody occurs, but they do not identify any person.

Someone may finish a Glynn matter and move to the U.S. Marshals Service or ICE. Ask the sheriff for the receiving agency and transfer date. For federal prison custody, use the BOP Inmate Locator. A person held only by the Marshals may not yet appear there. For immigration custody, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator and ICE contact channels.

Describe the event accurately: release from GCDC to another agency is a transfer, not confirmed return to the community. The outside locator and the sheriff transfer record should agree before drawing a conclusion.

GCDC State Prison Transfers

A Glynn Superior Court sentence may move a person from GCDC into GDC custody. Once accepted by GDC, search Find an Offender by GDC identification number or by name and personal descriptors. GDC says the public search is for people currently in a state facility and advises written verification through Inmate Records and Information at PO Box 1529, Forsyth, GA 31029.

State records use terms that do not belong to a simple county release. Maximum Release Date is a sentence-end field. Tentative Parole Month is a review month, not a guaranteed release date. If the person later enters parole, the State Board of Pardons and Paroles database may show parole begin and end dates, office, and status.

Keep the sheriff transfer record because it closes the county-custody stage. Use the GDC record for the later state stage. Neither record should be substituted for the other.
