Releases from Glynn County Jail
The Georgia Department of Corrections, or GDC, lists “Glynn County Jail” in its locations directory. That listing is a state-maintained reference to a local county jail. It does not publish who was released, when a release occurred, or where a person went. A local detainee may leave jail for the community after bond, own-recognizance release, dismissal, time served, or a court order. Another person may leave local custody through transfer to GDC, the U.S. Marshals Service, another county, or immigration authorities.
The destination decides which record matters. A direct local release is confirmed through the Glynn County Sheriff's booking or release record and the related court disposition. A GDC transfer is not a community release. Once GDC accepts custody, the statewide offender record becomes the main custody source. A federal or immigration transfer also means the county jail no longer houses the person, even though another agency may still hold them.
Dropping from a Glynn jail report proves only that the person is no longer shown in that report. Confirm release or transfer with the responsible agency.
How to Confirm a Release from Glynn County Jail
Start with the county source because GDC's location page is not an inmate locator. The Glynn County Detention Center page links to the daily Population With All Charges Report. It shows people currently housed at GCDC. The report includes name, booking date, days jailed, and active and inactive charge information, but no rolling release archive.
- Check the current county report for the full name and review the entire entry, not one charge line.
- If the name is absent, check Georgia VINELink for a custody status or prior notification.
- Review the correct Glynn court record for bond, dismissal, sentence, probation, or transfer language.
- Submit a focused sheriff request for the booking number, release date, release type, and transfer destination.
- If the record says GDC received the person, use GDC Find an Offender and verify any parole status separately.
A charge marked “Court Release,” “Own Recognizance,” “Time Served,” or “Dismissed” can be useful, but it is not always the status of the whole booking. Other charges or holds may remain active. The full sheriff record and court order resolve that ambiguity. The broader Glynn County released inmate search also separates county, state, federal, and immigration routes.
Glynn County Jail Records and Contact
The GDC directory entry lists a location and phone, but the current county Detention Center source should lead local custody questions. Contact the listed office that owns the record rather than assuming both addresses describe the same public service point.

For a local release record, use the sheriff open-records portal. Include the person's full name, date of birth if known, booking date, and case number. State the exact fields needed, such as release date and time, release type, bond status, or transfer destination. Georgia's Open Records Act provides for an initial response within three business days. That period is not a promise that a complex record will be produced at once. Fees and lawful exemptions may apply.
About Glynn County Jail
The GDC page classifies Glynn County Jail as a county jail. It is a directory listing, not evidence of a separate state prison operating under that name. The Glynn County Sheriff's Office operates the county's present detention service. People held locally may include pretrial detainees, people serving local sentences, and people held for another authority.
That mix explains why a local disappearance can lead to several outcomes. Someone may have completed a local release. Another may be boarded for a state or federal authority. The sheriff fee schedule even lists boarding categories for state inmates, state parolees, federal inmates, city inmates, and other inmates. Those categories document multi-agency custody but do not identify an individual destination.
The state directory can still help confirm the name used in GDC systems. The GDC locations directory is pictured below as the source of that cross-reference.
The image shows the directory context. It should not be read as a current roster or release report.
Glynn Jail Address Difference
Two official pages publish different addresses. Glynn County's current Detention Center page uses 100 Sulphur Springs Road. The GDC directory lists Glynn County Jail at 1812 Newcastle Street. This is the distinctive facility issue identified in the local research, and it should remain visible rather than being silently normalized.
Use the county Detention Center page for the live population report and current local detention contact. Treat the Newcastle Street entry as a GDC directory cross-reference. Before mailing a request, delivering property, or appearing in person, call the office and confirm the correct destination for that task. A directory address alone does not prove where a particular person was housed or released.
The GDC offender-information hub supplies a second state context. It explains when a person has moved into the state corrections system rather than merely appearing in a local-jail directory.
After a documented GDC transfer, search the state offender record. Continue using county and court records for the earlier local booking.
Glynn Federal Transfer Releases
Glynn's federal and immigration layer is locally documented. The jail population report includes “INMATE HELD FOR FEDERAL AUTHORITIES.” The Sheriff's foreign-national report for the first quarter of 2026 counted 1,061 total people booked, 98 foreign nationals booked, 98 Law Enforcement Support Center inquiries, 86 answered ICE inquiries, and 60 ICE holds. These are aggregate figures. They do not identify a person or prove the result of a specific hold.
A county release may therefore be an agency transfer. For a federal criminal transfer, the BOP Inmate Locator may become useful after commitment to Bureau of Prisons custody. A U.S. Marshals hold may precede a BOP record. For immigration custody, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator and ICE contact channels. Neither tool replaces the sheriff's local transfer record.
Ask the sheriff for the receiving agency and transfer date when the current county report no longer shows the name. “Released from Glynn County Jail” should not be described as return to the community until the destination is confirmed.
Glynn Jail State Transfers
A person sentenced in Glynn Superior Court may move from the county jail into GDC custody. Search GDC by identification number when known, or use the name and personal descriptors carefully. The state page says photographs display when available and advises verification through written correspondence with Inmate Records and Information at PO Box 1529, Forsyth, GA 31029.
State vocabulary differs from county booking language. Maximum Release Date is the sentence-end field used in state custody. Tentative Parole Month is a projected review month, not a guaranteed release date. A parolee record may show parole begin date, parole end date, parole office, and primary offense. Those fields help explain a post-prison release, while the Glynn sheriff and court records explain the earlier county-jail stage.
- Transfer
- Movement to another agency while custody continues.
- Discharge
- Completion of the sentence or supervision obligation shown by the responsible authority.
- Hold
- A request or legal basis for keeping or transferring a person for another agency.
When records conflict, preserve both sources and request written confirmation. Do not turn a missing web result into a release date.
The sentencing court can resolve another common gap. Glynn Superior Court handles felony criminal cases, while Glynn State Court handles misdemeanors and traffic matters. A court docket may show whether the local stay ended with bond, probation, time served, dismissal, or a prison sentence. It can also show a later warrant or revocation that is separate from the first release. Use the court result to explain why custody changed, then use the sheriff or GDC record for the actual custodial destination and date.
Keep identifiers from every stage. A county booking number, court case number, and GDC identification number refer to different records. Supplying the right number makes a written request more precise and reduces the risk of matching another person with the same name.
